DESERT ISLAND DISCS: ROGER MOORE

Desert Island Discs: ROGER MOORE: Desert Island Discs began in 1942 and continues as a beloved institution in the UK. In each segment, listeners are treated to in-depth discussions with interesting personalities (much like NPR's Fresh Air), which include special music and book selections chosen by the guests. Many Spy Vibe heroes have appeared on the program, offering rare glimpses into their lives and careers. Hosts have been Roy Plomley, Sue Lawley, and the fabulous interviewer Kirsty Young, who has hosted since 2006. An archive of the show is now available on the BBC site. Some episodes are available on iTunes.

Today on Spy Vibe we listen in on Plomley's chat with Roger Moore, recorded on July 25th, 1981 (just after For Your Eyes Only). Moore talks about his military service, early career experiences on stage and screen, The Persuaders, Maverick, and about his years as The Saint and James Bond. Moore's discs include Frank Sinatra, Puccini, Barry Manilow, Bib Newhart, and Tom Lehrer. 43 minutes. Listen here. Spy Vibe's Desert Island Discs series: Ian Fleming, Roger Moore, Michael Caine
